Mr. Ralph Perkins, age 89, of Vidalia, died Monday, August 2, 2021, at his home after an extended illness, with his family by his side. He was born in Worth County, growing up in Moultrie, and moved to Toombs County in the mid 1950’s. He was a 1949 graduate from Moultrie High School, and later graduated from South Georgia Technical College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and retired from Georgia Power as an Electrical Project Supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion Post #97 in Vidalia and currently is the longest and oldest member. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Riverside, Georgia, and attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lou Perkins; parents, George Henry Perkins and Bertha Mae Nevels Perkins; two sisters, Barbara Passmore and Linda Goeltz; and one brother, Curt Perkins.
His family includes two children, Eddie Perkins of Vidalia, and Deidre Perkins McLeod and husband Bill of Siesta Key, Florida; one sister-in-law, Ellen Perkins of Mooresville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:30 until 11:30.
A graveside funeral service is Thursday, August 5th, at 12:00 noon at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Cary Swanson officiating.
