Mrs. Princess Fawn “Angie” Butts, age 76, of Vidalia, Georgia, died Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Savannah. She was born on October 2, 1949, in Montour Falls, New York as the only child of the late Raymond Dewey and Frances Stanko Dewey. She lived in New York most of her life before moving to Vidalia in May of 2018. Mrs. Butts worked various jobs during her life, but at the age of 56, she decided she wanted a career in nursing. She was a 2006 graduate of Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, New York, proudly becoming a licensed practical nurse for over twenty years, and was a self-employed caregiver of disabled children in their homes, referring to herself as a “little person nurse”. She was an avid lover of animals, especially cats, and she enjoyed making afghans for herself, family, and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis M. Butts of Vidalia; two sons, George L. Amerman and wife Judy of Auburn, New York, and Dennis M. Butts II of Groton, New York; two daughters, Michelle D. Mascola and husband Steve of New Jersey, and Catherine A. Butts of upstate New York; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Zirbel Funeral Home in Groton, New York on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm until just prior to the service at 4:00 pm. Interment will follow at Groton Rural Cemetery in Groton, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Butts’ memory may be made to the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, PO Box 210, Vidalia, GA 30475.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
