Mr. Preston Osborne, Jr., age 77, of Dublin, died Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. He was born in Treutlen County, living in Higgston and Vidalia most of his life, and has made Dublin his home since 2000. He was a 1965 graduate of Vidalia High School. He worked at the Vidalia Municipal Airport, he was a flight instructor, and having his on plane, he flew people around Georgia. He retired as a correctional officer after more than twenty years with the Georgia Department of Corrections in Reidsville and Soperton. He was a former member of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49 and is a member of Dublin Masonic Lodge #75. He is a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Laurens County, and he enjoyed flying his drone, fishing, eating out, and spending with his dog, Gizmo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston Fordham “Pres” Osborne, Sr. and Annie Lucile Carter Osborne; and two brothers, Gary Osborne and Charles Osborne.
His family includes three children, Wanda Duncan and husband Jim of Lyons, Susan Curl and husband Phillip of Swainsboro, and Jonathan Osborne and wife Tamara of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Kevin Duncan, Timothy Durling, both of Lyons, Dustin Osborne of Swainsboro, Erica Lawler of Vidalia, Derrick Lawler of Tennessee, and Jason Osborne and Jessica Osborne of Pennsylvania; eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and a special friend.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Edge officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Pallbearers are Jim Duncan, Kevin Duncan, Jerry Griffin, and Felipe Rosario.
