Phyllis (Shuman) Bowen

Mrs. Phyllis Shuman Bowen, age 68, of Vidalia, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, at her home, after an extended illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and was a 1970 graduate of Vidalia High School.  She attended Brewton-Parker College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from the University of Georgia.  She was a homemaker and worked in the family businesses, Shuman Cleaners and Kiddie Kampus.  She was a member of the Lyons Garden Club and (ORCA), Ohoopee Regional Council for the Arts.  She was a member of the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Felton E. Shuman and Mary Williamson Shuman.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Danny Bowen; two sons, Brandon Bowen and wife Melanie, and Christopher Bowen; two grandchildren, Ross Bowen and Georgana Bowen, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Debby Shuman Thompson and husband Robbie of Vidalia, and Sherry Shuman Taylor and husband Roy of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 24th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Gale and Reverend Michael Kennedy officiating.
