Pharis Davis, age 81, Vidalia, died, Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Meadows Park Health & Rehab in Vidalia, following an extended illness. She was a native of Vidalia and lived most of her life in the Vidalia/Mt. Vernon area. She was a 1961 graduate of Vidalia High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader, and played in the band. She was Apartment Manager at Pecan Point Apartments in Mt, Vernon and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. She loved to paint, write, and read, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Otis Davis and Gaynelle Lowe Davis; son-in-law, Larry Brent Carter and sister-in-law, Karen Davis.
Her family includes three daughters, Renee Walton Crane and husband Joey of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Michelle Walton Ethredge and husband Marlen of Mt. Vernon, and Tara Walton Carter of Baxley; two brothers, James “Jimmy” Davis, Jr. and wife B.J., and Vance Davis , all of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Macy Young and husband Chase, Cailee Crane, James M. Ethredge II and wife Mikayla, Taylor Carter-Taylor and husband Brody, and Brantly Carter; great-grandchildren, Cason Lowe Young, Ellie James Young, Ansley James Ethredge, and Asher Brett Ethredge; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Boze and Betty Godwin, Nita Moate and Liz Broadfoot..
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00
The funeral service will be Tuesday morning, July 2nd, at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon with Reverend Karl Hay officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
