On Thursday, July 23, 2020, John Quincey “Pete” Braddy, Sr., loving husband, daddy, and beloved “Pete” passed away at the age of 73.
Pete was born on June 18, 1947, to Cecil and Emma Braddy. He grew up and lived his lifetime in Montgomery County, Georgia. He accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior as a young adult. Pete married Brenda Joyce Graham on November 15, 1969. They raised three children: Sylvia, Sherry, and John.
Pete, along with his brother Kelly, started farming hogs and corn in 1967 while also working factory jobs. Their double first cousin, Gary, joined them in growing tobacco. Shortly thereafter Braddy Farms was established in 1969. Knowing that success for a farmer does not come without blessings from the Lord and sweat of the brow, Pete was no stranger to hard work. He thrived as he worked with crops, cows, and a wonderful garden. He had a heart of gold and happily shared with those in his reach. The legacy that Pete left for his family is one of integrity. Pete was preceded in death by his father, Cecil and mother, Emma.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Brenda Braddy; three children Sylvia Faulk and husband Reggie, Sherry Wynn, and John Q. Braddy, Jr. and wife Tabitha; nine grandchildren, Emma and Rye Faulk, Ethan, Maggie, Hannah, and Jesse Wynn, and Alice, little John, and Caleb Braddy, brother Kelly and wife Joan, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend John Q. Braddy, Jr. and Reverend Karl Hay officiating. The committal service will follow at Adams Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until just prior to the service.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon, P.O. Box 482, Mt. Vernon, GA 30445.
Pete’s family is gathering at “The Cookhouse”, 1535 U.S. Hwy 221 N., Mt. Vernon, Georgia 30445.
