Peggy Sharpe

Mrs. Peggy Sharpe, age 85, of Lyons, died Saturday, June 20, 2020, in The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, living in Hinesville, Swainsboro and Newington before moving to Lyons where she lived most of her life.  She was a homemaker, a licensed beautician, and retired after thirty years as District Manager of AFLAC.  Peggy was a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church and the Vidalia/Lyons Moose.  She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Gene Sharpe; a son, Donald Sharpe; and her parents, Weyman Howell Pomeroy and Amelia McWhorter Pomeroy..

Mrs. Sharpe is survived by two sons, Dan Sharpe of Longview, Texas, and Sean Sharpe and wife Niki of the South Thompson Community; seven grandchildren, Danielle Sharpe Thigpen of Lyons, Danny Sharpe of Longview, Dillan Sharpe and wife Brittney of Lyons, Morgan Sharpe Slater and husband Chad of Vidalia, Jessica Sharpe of Longview, Jennifer “JJ” Collins of Vidalia, and Thomas Collins of Savannah; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
