Mrs. Peggy Shuman Peek, age 91, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Mrs. Peek was born in Thomaston, Georgia on October 27, 1931 and was raised in Vidalia, Georgia. After graduation from Vidalia High School in 1947, she received her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Atlanta. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, who was in the Navy at that time. They were married for 61 years and enjoyed gardening, fishing and RVing at the coast where they met new friends who would remain close for many years. Peggy enjoyed playing bridge, reading and working with flowers. She was also fulfilled by a long nursing career. She was a member of Vidalia First Baptist Church and Winsome Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Peek; daughter, Ann Peek Manuel; parents, Elmer and Myrtle Shuman; and sister, Ann Green.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Peek Ford; son, Michael Peek and wife Avis; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be Saturday morning, March 4th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
