Obituary

Peggy Mead Davis, age 57, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia.  She was a native of Montgomery County, moving to Higgston in 1978 before moving to Mt. Vernon in 1985.  She was a 1982 graduate of Montgomery County High School and worked at Ailey Manufacturing and Dudley Sports.  She was a member of Pendleton Community Church, and she enjoyed sewing, painting, flowers and growing peppers.  She is preceded in death by her father, Doug Mead; and her stepfather, James Randall Chambers.

Her family includes her mother, Barbara Chambers of Mt. Vernon; four siblings, Patricia Mead Osting and husband Mike of Mt. Vernon, Randy Chambers and wife Selina of Ailey, Sharlene Chambers Taylor and husband John of Lyons, and Jeannie Mead and Robbie Murray of Ailey; several nieces and nephews, including a nephew that was raised like a brother, Ryan Chambers and wife Daisy of Vidalia; and two great-nephews, Cole Johns and Tucker Johns.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 21st from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  A private graveside funeral service will follow.
