Mrs. Patti Lee Jarriel, age 62, of Ponderosa Community, died Friday, September 27, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Ladson, South Carolina living most of her life in Suffolk, Virginia. She was a 1980 graduate from R. B. Stall High School, driving the school bus when she was sixteen, and later worked as administrative assistant to the commanding officer of Little Creek Naval Station. She was baptized at Temple Baptist Church where she also sang in the choir. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, and was a switch hitter softball player. She especially loved her spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Fredrick French and Consuela Harbough French Schafferman and a brother, John William French.
Her family includes her husband of forty-six years, Clinton David Jarriel of Ponderosa Community; two sons, Clinton John David Jarriel of Ponderosa Community and Jeremiah L. Jarriel and wife Ainsley of Suffolk, Virginia; step-father, Lee Schafferman of Ladson, South Carolina; two sisters, Twana Messer of Indianapolis, Indiana and Robin Akin of Mounks Corner, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Hannah Frank and her husband Joushua, Sarah Jarriel, Miah Jarriel, Claire Thompson, Kathryn Thompson, Savannah Jarriel, Iryland Jarriel, Clinton Jarriel, Dale Jarriel, and Kora Lee Jarriel; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, October 5th at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home from 10:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 11:00 with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating. Burial will follow in Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting their website at stjude.org, or Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 410, Lyons, GA 30436.
