Mrs. Ora Moore Winge, age 102, of Lyons, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020, in Cedar Plantation in Metter, after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons most of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Lyons High School and attended Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Steadfast Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Marine Wives Club and Women’s Army Auxiliary Corp. She was a pianist and once played with Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians. She was preceded in death by her husband George Claude Winge; son Monty G. Winge; parents Dennis D. Moore and Ola Verdell Anderson; three sisters Lucille Moore, Madeline Moore Mosley and Mary Moore McLendon; and four brothers Herbert Moore, Hubert Moore, Elva “Buddy” Moore and Eric “Jack” Moore.
Mrs. Winge is survived by two daughters, Angelia W. Coleman of Waycross, and Terresa M. Winge of Lyons; one sister Oreeta Moore Jones of Cordele; one brother, Dennis D. Moore, Jr. of Dearing; four grandchildren, 1st Lt. Trevor M. Winge and wife Nadia of Wiesbaden, Germany, TSgt. Taylor J. Winge and wife Amanda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Robert Carson Coleman of Hiram, and George Paul Winge of Kathleen; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer James Winge and Zachary Vincent Winge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Saturday, March 21st, at 3:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Paul Moore officiating.
