Oliver William Robertson, Jr.

Affectionately known to his friends and loved ones as, "Bill", Mr. Oliver William Robertson, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, June 22, 2026, just as he wished.

Son to the late Major Oliver William Robertson, Senior, and Mrs. Edith Marie (LeBlanc) Robertson, Bill was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, where his love for his Cajun roots ran deep.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Priscilla Marie Yoast and James (Jim) J. Robertson. Also gone before him, his first wife and mother to his children, Melba Azucena (Mateo) Robertson; his second wife, Linda Lee (Chalker) Robertson; and special friend, Tonia D. Thomas.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, having completed two tours in Vietnam as a 91C Combat Medic. After his decorated career in the military, and earning his master's degree from Georgia Southern University, Bill transitioned into a career focused in Education, bringing the same discipline and leadership into his civilian life.

A true lover of all things outdoors, Bill will easily be remembered for his passion for hunting and fishing - and for teaching people the trade.

Loving survivors include his daughter, Dawn Nagel (Russell) and son, Christopher Robertson (Jennifer Anne), along with grandchildren, Angelica, Noah, Savannah, Bailey, Paul, Azucena, and Olivia Wren.  Bill is also survived by extended family and friends across Georgia, Oklahoma and Louisiana, as well as his lifelong friend, Don Senterfitt (Pamela) of Arkansas.

From Bill, "Well ... Adios, I'll see you all in a second ... God's time. We will all be together again. Be just as good as you can be and just know and realize that I loved you all ... very much."

The family would like to show our gratitude to the team at Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Vidalia for their loving care and support during Bill's final days. We are also very appreciative of the staff at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home for their tender care throughout Bill's final days - and after. 

The family will gather privately at a later date for burial.
