Mr. Norman E. Sutton, age 92, of Lyons, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was a native of Bryan County, living in Pembroke and was a 1950 graduate of Bryan County High School. After serving in the U.S. Army and serving in the infantry in Germany, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Georgia Teacher’s College, now Georgia Southern University, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Georgia where he was employed in the Education Department for two years. He taught Biology in Fitzgerald from 1958 until 1960. From 1960 until 1970, he resided in Atlanta and sold textbooks and education materials throughout the state of Georgia.
Mr. Sutton had a broad range of interests, including a love for science, music, politics, stock market, and a love for running. His favorite activity was playing tennis where he earned many rewards and took great pride in playing Erk Russell and Dan Magill
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton married at Epworth by the Sea in 2002, and were members of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons for several years, but now attend Mt. Moriah Church.
He is preceded in death by his previous wife, Jill Bartholomew Sutton; stepson, Clyde Little II; parents, Troy Martin Sutton and Lucy Bell Sutton; three brothers, Samuel H. Sutton, Loyd Sutton, and Frank Sutton; and two sisters, Margaret Sutton McKinney and Virginia Sutton Barnard.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jo Collins Little Sutton; one stepson, Kirk Little and wife Lisa and their children; one daughter-in-law, Roxanne Little and her children of Bulloch County; two sisters, Evelyn Sutton Barone and Essie Deloach and husband Ronald, all of Bryan County; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Tuesday afternoon September 9th, 2025, at 2:00 at Mt. Moriah Church with Pastor Michael Kennedy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
