Nora "Lisa" Melissa Tharpe

Nora “Lisa” Melissa Tharpe, age 62, of Vidalia, died Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Candler County Hospital in Metter after a sudden illness. She was born on June 12, 1963, in Atlanta, and as a child her family moved to Mt. Vernon, and she attended Montgomery County schools. She lived in Vidalia and Stockbridge most of her life, and she attended Henry Baptist Church in Stockbridge. Lisa enjoyed flowers, gardening, serving others, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Arthur Tharpe, Sr. and Nora Lee Evans Tharpe; sister, Dorothy Ann Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Elaine Fazio Tharpe.

She is survived by two children, Marie Johnson and Jonathan Powell of Vidalia; and Adam Taliaferro of Manchester; four grandchildren, Jake Faircloth, Aylayna Taliaferro, Bella Johnson, and Michael Boone; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Faircloth; two sisters, Donna F. Sanford and husband Kenneth of Stockbridge, and Vonda Michelle Carey and husband Andy of Glenwood; two brothers, Wayne H. Roden and wife Teresa of Lawrenceville, and George A. “Junior” Tharpe of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 13th, 2026, at 2:00 at Henry Baptist Church, 4035 Jodeco Road, McDonough, 30253 with Pastor Jon Estes officiating.
