Ms. Nita Wynn Popham, age 75, of Albany, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a native of Albany, Georgia and lived most of her life in Sylvester, Georgia and was 1967 graduate of Albany High School. She received a Master’s in Instructional Technology from Valdosta State University. Ms. Nita worked as a media specialist with Worth County Board of Education for many years; she was a member of Georgia Association of Educators, Worth Association of Educators and Pinson Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and brain teasers. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norwood Eugene Wynn and Lassie Juanita Bray Wynn; and one sister, Sandra Faye Smith.
Her family includes her children, Kristen Popham Garland and husband Stanley of Mount Vernon and John Allen Popham, Jr. and wife Michelle of Sylvester; one brother, Terry Wynn and wife Wendy of Live Oak, Florida; one sister, Judy King of Cairo, Georgia; six grandchildren, Dawson Garland, Clara Garland, Jae Popham, Georgia Garland, Julia Garland, and Alex Popham; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life Ice Cream Social will be on Saturday, September 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Pinson Methodist Church Social Hall in Sylvester, Georgia.
