Nellie Jack "Jackie" Conner Obituary

Ms. Nellie Jack “Jackie” Conner, age 83, of Cedar Crossing, died Sunday, March 8, 2020, in The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after an extended illness.   She was a native of Toombs County and was a 1954 graduate of Toombs Central.  She married Jesse T. Joyner who was serving in the U.S. Army; they lived in several parts of the U.S. and Germany.  After returning to the U.S., she worked with Thomas & Beckworth Construction Company.  She lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for ten years and was a caregiver.  She returned to Toombs County in 2012 and was Baptist by faith.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Stevens; parents, William Clinton “Jim” Conner and Lessie Leola Godwin Conner; two sisters, Carolyn Leola Conner and Cora Sue Conner Gibson; and one brother, Jerry Wayne Conner.

Ms. Conner is survived by one son Martin Theron Joyner and wife Ann of Michigan; one daughter, Taryn Angela Joyner Redlin of Maryland; five siblings, Jim P. Conner and wife Donna of Ft. Myers, Florida, Hiram Max Conner and wife Marie of Uvalda, Annie Myrle Britt of Baxley, William Daniel Conner of Baxley, and Sheila Morris and husband Ned of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 5:00 until just prior to the service.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 12th, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Ryan Wilson officiating.
