Mrs. Naomi Jean Haines Ducksworth, age 70, of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Vidalia and lived in Toombs, Telfair, and Montgomery Counties all of her life. She worked in the grocery business most of her life and fifteen years with Harvey’s in McRae-Helena. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and she enjoyed reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Elijah “Buddy” Haines and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Byrd Haines; and four siblings, William Franklin Haines, Sarah Louise Haines Bishop, Hattie Virginia Haines James, and Elizabeth Ann Haines DeCair.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Ducksworth and her buddy, Lucy of Mt. Vernon; one brother, James Alvin “Jimmy” Haines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday morning, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 at Long Pond Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:30 a.m. until just prior to the graveside service.
