Mildred "Tutter" Lamb Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Heinz "Tutter" Lamb, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully March 6th, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1940, in Selma, Alabama.  Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin C. Heinz and Elizabeth R. Heinz; three sisters, Ulma Heinz, Carolyn Knight, and Rosemary Turner; and one brother, Melvin Heinz Jr.

From a young age, Mildred had an avid love for horses, and she loved playing the piano. She excelled in showing Tennessee Walking Horses, proudly winning the 1957 World Junior Grand Champion title at the National Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Mildred graduated from Parrish High School in Selma, Alabama, in 1958 and continued her education at the University of Alabama.  In 1960, she married the love of her life, Lt. Col Frank Lamar Lamb (USAF Retired) of Swainsboro, Georgia.  They shared a wonderful life together, raising a family and retiring in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where they lived until Frank's passing in 2022.

Mildred was a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Frank Lamar Lamb Jr. and his wife Jacinda of Vidalia, Georgia, and Lynda Ann Broxson and her husband Eddie of Denver, Colorado.  She cherished her four grandchildren, Chris Lamb and his wife Rachel  of Portland, Oregon, Megan Ogden and her husband Blake of Athens, Georgia, Erin Lang and her husband Payton of Jesup, Georgia, and Lauren Kean of Denver, Colorado.  Mildred played an active role in raising both Chris Lamb and Lauren Kean, and her love and guidance had a lasting impact on their lives.  Her heart was further blessed by her three great-grandchildren, Mason Ogden, Sawyer Ogden, and Jude Ogden, all of Athens, Georgia.

Mildred was loved by all who knew her.  She will be remembered for her friendliness, politeness, sense of humor, gentle but feisty spirit, her love for her family and animals, her passion for horses, and the time she spent playing the piano for friends and family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday morning from 10:00 until 12:00 noon.

A graveside funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, March 9th, 2025, at 2:00 at Ruth’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Brian Durden officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting their website at Stjude.org.
