Mrs. Mildred Proctor Morrison, age 83, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Treutlen County, moved to Vidalia in 1960 and to Johnson Corner in 2005. She worked at Hazlehurst Manufacturing, twenty-five years at Oxford Industries, and the Shrimp Boat. She was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church and the Dixie Dumplings, and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia. She enjoyed cooking, walking, shopping, and bowling. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Billy F. Morrison; parents, Lewis Proctor and Elise Cammack Proctor; and a sister, Jeanette Proctor Meeler.
Her family includes three children, Granville Morrison and wife Connie of the Blue Ridge Community, Veronica Morrison Dixon and husband Danny of Johnson Corner, and Angela Morrison of Lyons; one brother, Buddy Proctor and wife Lindy; five sisters, Ann Clark and husband Wade, Helen Simmons and husband Bill, all of Soperton, Danis Ward, Frances Wiggins, and Charlotte Fortner, all of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Jackie Asquith of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Josh Dixon and wife Missy, Caleb Dixon and wife Jeanie, Haley Dixon Patterson and husband Jamie, Doak Morrison and wife Zarah and Blake Morrison Kirby and husband Bubba; fourteen great-grandchildren that brought her so much joy, Kinsleigh, Roper, Kenni, Stetson and Addison Dixon, Cole, Karylynn, Matthew, Paetyn, and Ellie Patterson, Tate, Blythe, and Brodie Kirby, and Kendall Morrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Monday, May 12th, 2025, at 11:00 at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
Pallbearers are Josh Dixon, Caleb Dixon, Doak Morrison, Bubba Kirby, Jamie Patterson, Colby Calhoun, and Jeff Dowd.
Honorary pallbearers are the Dixie Dumplings.
