Mr. Michael Allen “Mike” Lanigan, age 64, of Oak Park, died Monday, February 3, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Portal, moving to Oak Park in 1960 and also was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a carpenter and craftsman, and also enjoyed gardening, fishing and, Mike adored his family. He attended the New Beulah United Methodist Church in Candler County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Ann Oglesby Peebles Lanigan; an infant son, Sean Lanigan; parents, Durance Lanigan and Doris Akins Lanigan; paternal grandparents, Edna Hodges Lanigan Willie Lanigan; and maternal grandparents, Eugene Akins and Carolie Mulling Akins.
Mr. Lanigan is survived one son, Brad Lanigan of Ellabell; three sisters, Delores Lanigan Phillips, Jean Lanigan Phillips and Marilyn Lanigan; two step-sons, Jerry Peebles of Soperton and Dwayne Peebles of Jacksonville, Florida; nine grandchildren, Carson McCoy of Lyons, John Michael Lanigan, Reilly Lanigan, both of Reidsville, Tyler Peebles of Ludowici, Courtney Peebles of Swainsboro, Noah Peebles, Morganna Peebles, Connor Peebles, and Emily Peebles; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, February 5th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Park City Cemetery with Nancy Stanley officiating.
