Mr. Michael L. Walker, age 57, of the South Thompson Community, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Anne & Donald McGraw Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Florida after an extended stay at Mayo Medical Center. He was a self-proclaimed military brat, growing up in several cities. The majority of his adult life was spent in Claxton before moving to Toombs County in 2006. Michael was a 1986 graduate of Admiral King High School in Lorain, Ohio. He was a truck driver for Schneider National in Wisconsin and had driven for them for the past twenty years. He enjoyed family cruises, he loved loving on his nine grandchildren, and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bedell Walker and Willie Mae English Rockholt; and maternal grandparents, Andrew Schuffert and Catherine Schrenk Schuffert.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of nine years, Roberta “Marie” Copeland Walker; three children, Taryn Walker Orozco and husband David, Jennifer Walker Dayton and husband Daniel, and Michael Hart and wife Megan; parents, Franklin Walker and Sharron Schuffert; one brother, Brian Walker and wife Candace; one sister, Sharon M. Walker Cantrell and husband David; nine grandchildren, Zach, Brantley, Bryant, Aubrey, Anna, Noah, Adaline, Rosalie, and Levi; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Alvin Merritt officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
