Mrs. Miami Loyed Monroe, age 84, of Lyons, died Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in Meadows Health in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was born in Oak Park to the late Sherman Loyed and Luecressy Phillips Loyed, and as a child moved to Lyons where she lived all of her life. She was a 1954 graduate of Lyons High School and retired from Oxford Industries after forty-two years. She was a member of the East Gordon Street Baptist Church and formerly taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Monroe; one brother, Bo Loyed; and three sisters, Bertie Moore, Gertrude Scarboro and Adell Bridges.
Mrs. Monroe is survived by three children, Audrey Monroe of Lyons, James Monroe, Jr. and wife Linda of Sandersville, and Scott Monroe and wife Keila of Dexter; six grandchildren, Mallory Ruiz and husband Frankie of Richmond Hill, Trey Monroe and wife Brittney of Michigan, Coy Wilcher of Sandersville, Holly Meacham and husband Brant of Dublin, Sydney McCord and Bekah McCord of Dexter; five great-grandchildren, Beckham Ruiz, Remington Monroe, Elizabeth Monroe, Maylee Meacham and Easton Meacham; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00, and has requested all attending the visitation and funeral, to follow CDC guidelines, including wearing a mask and social distancing.
The funeral service will be held Friday, September 11th, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Connor officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.
