Guyton - Merrie Catherine Smith Rewis, 63 passed away September 30, 2024 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Cathy was a native of Montgomery County and moved back to Montgomery County last month. She was a 1979 graduate from Montgomery County High School where she was class president and voted most likely to succeed. She later attended Georgia Southern University and Armstrong State College before majoring in Horticulture from Ogeechee Technical College. She worked with Atlantic Wood Industries in Vidalia, Savannah and other parts of the East Coast and later owned her own landscaping business. She was a homemaker, loved gardening, watching the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and Gunsmoke. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She especially loved Jesus, most of all, and her family. She was a member of Crossroads Church in Guyton. She loved her dog, Snidely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Giles Rewis; her father, Elias Edward "Ed" Smith; and her step-father, Hillary Alton Warnock.
Survivors include her mother, Delora Smith Warnock; sisters, Paula Warnock Davis (Dariel) and Selena Warnock Carter; step-children, Jenny Kerns (Kris), Crissy Rose (Buddy), Brandy Ellis (Brad), and Ronnie Stone; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Crossroads Church, 1200 Honey Ridge Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
