Mr. Melvin Scott, age 67, of the Normantown Community, died Friday, January 24, 2025, at his home after sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County, lived in Normantown most of his life, and he attended Lyons Senior High School. He was a truck driver and drove a log truck for many years with several companies. Melvin enjoyed fishing, small engine repair, visiting with friends, and listening to his scanner. Two sons, Jeremy Scott and Jesse Scott; granddaughter, Bailey Scott; father, Cecil Melvin Scott, Sr.; and former wife, Ruby Collins Scott, precede him in death.
His family includes one daughter, Crystal Gail Cox and husband Chris of Reidsville; four grandchildren, Bradley Scott, Cory Cox, Cole Cox, and J.J. Scott; his mother, Wilma Jackson Scott of Normantown; two sisters, Joann Scott Fulford and husband John of Alamo, and Linda Scott of Normantown; two brothers, Jerry Scott and wife Suzanne of Vidalia, and Dustin Scott of Warner Robins, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Wednesday afternoon, January 29th, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Mitch Bellflower officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
