Vidalia,

Mr. Melvin “Dad” Copeland, Sr., age 64, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, was a supervisor for both Oxford Industries and Dudley Sports, and medically retired From Trane.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God, and for several years with the church, was a leader of the Royal Rangers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Ruby Kight Copeland; grandson, Timmy Kirkland; granddaughter, Loretta Picking; three brothers, Bobby Copeland, Eugene Bryant, and Henry “Smutty” Copeland.

Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife, Ginger Edenfield Copeland of Vidalia; five children, Dewayne Copeland and wife Lisa of the Normantown Community, Diana Copeland of Rome, Mel Copeland and wife Brandy of Uvalda, Kandice Eason of Griffin, and Chad Eason of Athens; two sisters, Brenda Tyson of the Ohoopee Community, and Eunice Dickey of the Ponderosa Community; three brothers, Jim Jewell and George Copeland, both of Augusta, and Marcus “Junior” Copeland of Dade City, Florida, five grandchildren, Cody, Kelsey, Lawson, Weston, and Daelyn; other family, including Amy, Pam, and Beth, and their families; several nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Dwayne Collins of Oak Park.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Roberson and Pastor Kevin Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the McCrimmon Cemetery with Pastor Mike Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
