Melinda Hilton Obituary

Mrs. Melinda Collins Hilton, age 59, of Vidalia, died Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Toombs County and lived there most of her life.  She was a bank teller and also worked in admissions at Brewton-Parker College.  She was Baptist by faith and enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hilton; her father, Gaston Levi Collins, Sr.; her mother, Sidney Pearl Hall Sheppard; and one brother, William S. Collins.

Her family includes two children, Travis E. Turner and wife Samantha of Vidalia, Sterling M. Fountain and husband William of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Bryleigh Turner, Cassie Turner and Nellie Fountain; her stepfather, Gene Sheppard of Vidalia; one brother, Gaston Levi Collins, Jr. and wife Freida of Vidalia; one sister, Brenda Collins Martin and husband Don of Pensacola, Florida; one uncle, Jimmy W. Hall of Valdosta; one aunt, Martha L. Hall Pittman of McCaysville; one stepbrother, Ken Sheppard of Alston; two stepsisters, Tonya Sheppard of Lyons and Melissa Altman of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, June 18th, at 11:00 at Oasis Church of God with Bishop Gilbert Wommack officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4849 Paulsen St., Suite 102, Savannah, GA 31405.
