Maxine (Mosley) Williams

Mrs. Maxine Mosley Williams, age 88, of Cedar Crossing, died Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Meadows Park & Rehab in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, living near Cedar Crossing all of her life and was a 1956 graduate of Toombs Central School. She worked at Roydon Wear Manufacturing in Mt. Vernon for thirty-three years and also worked a few years at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. She was a member of Smyrna Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed dancing, yard work, the outdoors, fishing at the Altamaha and Oconee Rivers, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel Evans Williams, Sr.; son, Joel Evans Williams, Jr.; parents, Durham Marshall Mosley and Rosa Lee Barber Mosley; and six siblings, Jeanette Mosley Collins, Dee Marshall Mosley, Jr., Cecil Mosley, Donald Mosley, Annette Mosley Blocker, and Patricia Mosley Byrd.

Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Ronald Williams and wife Cindy, and Dan Williams and wife Pam; one sister, Grace Mosley Manning; two brothers, “Uncle” Buddy J. Mosley and wife Annette, all of Uvalda, and Glenn Mosley and wife Glenda of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Williams Thompson of Reidsville; six grandchildren, Brett Williams and wife Jenna, Cody Williams and Nikki Gill, all of Uvalda, Joe Williams of Reidsville, Meagan Williams of Atlanta, Jessi Williams Jones and husband Derek of Watkinsville, and Branden Williams and wife Casey of Alston; ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 27th, 2026, at 3:00 at Smyrna Church with Pastor Melvin Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
