It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Maxine Morris Gordon, on Tuesday June 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Maxine was a woman whose life was defined by love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to her family. She spent her life working hard, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether it was caring for her children, helping raise grandchildren, supporting extended family members, or lending a helping hand to anyone in need, she gave freely of herself without expecting anything in return.
Her kindness, strength, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Family was her greatest joy, and she devoted herself to ensuring those she loved were cared for and supported. The lessons she taught through her actions—love, compassion, perseverance, and selflessness—will continue to live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Crawford Franklin "CF" Gordon; father, John Benjamin Morris; mother, Claudia Jenkins Jackson Morris; 4 Brothers, Robert (Bobby) Morris, Gerald (Jerry) Morris, Franklin Morris, and John (Bimbo) Morris; and 2 sisters, Rose Riner, and Grace Turner.
She leaves behind her loving children, Denise McKinzie (Leroy McKinzie) Trent Gordon, and Celeste King, (Derek King); seven cherished grandchildren; eight treasured great-grandchildren; and one precious great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who were blessed by her love and friendship.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the countless memories she gave us and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
