Mattie Lou Kight Ansley, age 99, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Lyons on December 6, 1926, to the late Romanous Franklin Kight, Sr. and Julia Elizabeth Pittman Kight. She was proudly raised in the Rocky Creek Community. She was a 1945 graduate of Toombs Central School and was a lifelong member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. She moved to Vidalia in 1958 and retired from Oxford Industries after thirty-two years in the sample department. She enjoyed flower gardening, bowling, baking, and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lawannah Ansley; former husband, James Quinton Ansley; one brother, Romanous Franklin Kight, Jr.; and three sisters, Mildred Kight Dotson, Lucille Kight, and an infant sister.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Anne Ansley of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Julie Hagan and husband Greg of Lake Sinclair, Jennifer Williamson of Vidalia; and Alaina Burcham and husband Mike of Jefferson; nine great-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Duston, Blane, Michael, Christopher, Kassidy, Madilyn, Serenity and Ayden; seven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions may be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 2298 Johnson Corner Road, Lyons, GA 30436.
Pallbearers are Raymond Dotson, Danny Dixon, Romanous Dotson, Barry Dotson, Wilbur Poole, and Christopher Ansley.
