Mrs. Mary Ellen Kramer, age 76, of the Center Community, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following a brief illness. She was born December 22, 1946 in Sandersville, to the late George Washington Fields, Jr. and Margaret Allene Channell Fields. Her father served in the military and they lived in several places, including Savannah where she graduated in 1965 from Savannah High School. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Atlanta in 1966, and later to Clayton County where she lived until moving to Center in 2006. She worked as a paraprofessional for Clayton County and Henry County Board of Education, and most recently with Sally Meadows Elementary School. Her thirty-seven year career in education was dedicated to humbly serving special needs children. She enjoyed arts and crafts and the beach, especially Treasure Island, Florida. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Fields Lindsey and Carol Fields Brown.
Her family includes her husband of fifty-seven years, Dale Kramer of Center; two sons, Stan Kramer and wife Lesley Crozier of McDonough, and Robert Kramer of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Katherine Crozier-Price and husband Matthew of Canton, and Jeffrey Crozier and wife Kathleen of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; one great-grandson, Charles Price; one brother-in-law, Carlton Brown of Wilmington Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, September 2nd, from 10:00 until just prior to the memorial service at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with her nephew, Pastor Melvin Kramer officiating.
