Mrs. Mary Abt Waller, age 87, of Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She as a native of Montgomery, living in Mt. Vernon most of her life, and she was a 1955 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She was owner and operator of Mary’s Beauty Shop in Mt. Vernon for more than fifty years. She was a former member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church and is a member of Calvary’s Grace Church in Ailey. She enjoyed arts and crafts and her Boston Terriers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Dudley “L.D.” Waller; a son, Ken Waller; and parents, Charles Amiel Abt and Mary Ruth Bomar Abt.
Her family includes one son, Charles Waller and wife Donna of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Charlie Waller and wife Cristy of the South Thompson Community, Matt Waller and wife Julie of Mt. Vernon, and Amy Waller and Allen Register of Callahan, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Emily Waller, Braylie Davis, Kash Waller, Brooke Eades, Trevor Russell, and Denton Register.
A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday morning, July 9th, 2025, at 11:00 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Brian Patrick officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:30 until just prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Hoppy Sikes, Jimmy “Pedro” Sharpe, Chad Graham, Cam Graham, Joey Fountain, and Mike Osting.
