Mary (Whiteley) Jacoby

Mrs. Mary Whiteley Jacoby, age 83, of Vidalia, died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of Cliffs City, Maryland and a 1960 graduate of Chestertown High School in Chestertown, Maryland. Her former husband was in the military, and they lived in several places, including Germany and Texas.  Later, she lived in Pennsylvania and Arizona until moving to Vidalia in 2014. She worked with Maytag Fuel Company delivering fuel to the flight line for The Blue Angels at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. She was also a school bus driver in several school districts in Pennsylvania. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons where she worked in the infant nursery during Sunday school and was active in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed word search puzzles, shopping, and playing card games. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert John “Bob” Jacoby; parents, Paul Whiteley, Sr. and Flora Mae Dickerson Whiteley; and two siblings, David Whiteley and Rose Whiteley Newsome.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Usher and husband David of Lyons; one son, Frank Weaver and wife Laura of Jackson, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Alexa Weaver and Kylie Malarich and husband Adam, all of New Jersey; one brother, Paul Whiteley, Jr. and wife Betty of Virginia; one sister, Phyllis Lawson of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 18th, 2025, at 3:00 at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating.  Burial will be with her husband at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
