Martha "Marthie" Johnson (White) Campbell

Mrs. Martha White Johnson “Marthie” Campbell, age 84, of Vidalia died Friday, July 29, 2022, at Emanuel County Nursing Home in Swainsboro after an extended illness.  She was a native of Emanuel County, a graduate of Swainsboro Technical College, and was a licensed practical nurse.  She worked as a nurse for Dr. Gillikin in Twin City for several years, and worked at several nursing facilities before retiring.  She attended Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Twin City and Lyons Free Will Baptist Church.  She enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time with her family.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Jack F. Campbell; granddaughter, Melissa Anne Johnson; parents, William Jackson White and Mattie Bell Collins White; son-in-law, Elder Gary D. Johnson; and siblings, Richard “Dick” White, Retta White Brinson, George White, Walter White, John White, Grady White, Vera White Porterfield, and Bill White.

Her family includes three children, Dianne J. Johnson, Ben Edwin “Little Ben” Johnson and wife Wanda, all of Twin City, and Kathy Johnson Sharpe and husband Howell of Lyons; two sisters, Annie Ruth White Underwood of Twin City, and Linda Rountree of Swainsboro; five grandchildren, Jessica English and husband Sam of Swainsboro, Benji Johnson of Statesboro, Tyler Peebles and wife Shay of Lyons, Andy Johnson and wife Jessica of Adrian, and Brette Johnson of Twin City; five great-grandchildren, Claire English, Emma Grace English, Jase English, Joshua Johnson, and Drew Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wilson and Kirk Cavanah officiating.  Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
