Mrs. Margaret Galbreath Pittman, age 94, of Vidalia, died Friday, August 1, 2025, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Montgomery County, attended Alston School and was a 1947 graduate of Vidalia High School. She was a licensed practical nurse and graduated from Warren Candler Nursing School in Savannah. She began her nursing career at Gross Mercer Hospital in Vidalia, later at Meadows Regional Medical Center, nursing twenty years, and she worked ten years at SouthernCare Hospice in Vidalia. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Vidalia. She enjoyed reading, especially Southern Living Magazines, photos and framing, and the Kentucky Derby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clifford Walker Pittman; parents, Franklin Matthew Galbreath and Sadie Phillips Galbreath; and sister, Barbara Ann Galbreath Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Melanie Pittman Giles and husband Bruce, Melissa Pittman Riner and husband Larry, and Melinda Pittman Thompson and husband Bart, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Caroline Galbreath Merritt and Liz Galbreath Broadfoot, both of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Christina Wyble and husband Ed of Atlanta, Ginny Grace Giles of Vidalia, Caitlyn Sutton of Brooklet, Haile Darley and husband Alexander of Cedar Crossing, and Millie Pritchard of Statesboro; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Alec, Abe, Athen, and Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Jose Caraballo officiating. Burial will follow at Galbreath Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
