Madelyn Rhodes Tesney passed away in Trussville, Alabama, in the early hours of Saturday morning July 23, 2022.
Madelyn is survived by her brother Kenneth Rhodes of Lyons, GA, her three sons, Charles Hubert of San Diego, CA, Walt Hubert of Atlanta, GA, and Doug Hughes of Trussville, AL, her four grandchildren and two daughters-in-law. Madelyn was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John and will be laid to rest beside him in Vidalia, GA.
Madelyn was a devoted mother and grandmother and she loved extended visits from her granddaughters Morgan and Gwyneth. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and worked in the Trussville School District for many years as a librarian. A central part of her life was her membership at the First Baptist Church of Trussville, where she especially enjoyed her work with the church library. Along with her friends in the church and in the community, she spent much time in giving to others by sewing/crocheting items for premature babies, providing needs for seniors and for women’s shelters, and other similar endeavors. She enjoyed travel with family and with her lifelong Trussville friends, was an extremely loyal fan of Georgia Bulldogs football, was an avid reader, and enjoyed many types of puzzles.
A memorial service and reception will be held at the First Baptist Church of Trussville, AL, Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 6:00pm.
Visitation will also be held at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home in her hometown of Vidalia, GA, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, prior to the service and interment at Pinecrest Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Reverend Don Moye will officiate.
