Mackie (Barwick) Lawrence

Mackie Barwick Lawrence, age 76, of Uvalda, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born in Wheeler County and was a 1967 graduate of Wheeler County High. She lived in Wheeler County until moving to Uvalda in 1994 and to Dublin a few years ago. She worked as a sewing machine operator in Mt. Vernon and Dublin, and she worked at Savannah Luggage Works in Vidalia. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Wheeler County, and she enjoyed traveling, animals, word search, and working.

She is preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Lawrence; two children, Katie Lawrence and Jackie Lawrence; parents, Charlie Paul Barwick and Katie Gillis Barwick; and seven siblings.

She is survived by one daughter, Ashley Lawrence (Lamar) of Lyons; and one sister, Cheryl Barwick Waters and husband Glenn of Douglas; seven grandchildren, Tami Gonzalez, Javier Gonzalez, Deanna Gonzalez, Cristian Ramos, Lax Tobler, all of Lyons, Toni Poole of Wheeler County, and Jerry Poole of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, November 30th, 2025, at 4:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Waters officiating.
