Mackey A. Hill, Sr.

Mr. Mackey A. Hill, Sr., age 75, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Wheeler County, growing up in Glenwood and lived there until moving to Montgomery County in the early 1960s. He was a 1968 graduate of Montgomery County High where he played baseball. He retired after twenty-two years from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2007 as an E-6 in the GNCHB 4 Maintenance Company, Charleston, SC, Seabees Unit, and later retired after thirty-five years from the Georgia Department of Corrections as a construction engineer. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, especially at the Oconee River, grilling and spending time with family and his granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harrison Addison Hill; and two sisters, Jackie Hill Sharpe and Diane Hill Coleman.     

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Connie Harrell Hill; two children, Addison Hill, Jr. of Glenwood, and Ashley Hill Adams and husband Hunter of Vidalia; his mother, Frances Maddox Timon of Mt. Vernon; four granddaughters, Maddison Hill, Aspen Adams, McKynlie Adams, and Sutton Adams; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 7th, 2026, at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Karl Hay, Pastor Brian Durden, and Stacie Randolph officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Pallbearers are Glen Posey, Adam Harden, Vernon Morris, Charlie Coleman, Nolan Thigpen, Dusty Sharpe, Jeffery Thigpen, and Chad Coleman.
