Mrs. Mable Holton Morris of Lyons died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of the Nunez Community in Emanuel County and lived in Warner Robins twenty-five years. She worked for the Warner Robins Sun Newspaper and Wesleyan College Macon for many years and retired as an insurance agent from Southland Life Insurance Company after eleven years. She was a former member of the Underwriters Association and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons. She enjoyed decorating, cooking, and was best known for her hog head Brunswick Stew. Preceding her death was her husband of sixty-eight years, Gene Morris; one son, Alan Morris; grandson, Dusty Griffin; parents, Willie Walton Holton and Lonnie Mae Johns Holton; and six siblings.
Mrs. Morris is survived by three sons, Randy Morris of Tallahassee, Florida, Mark Morris of Macon, and Phillip Morris and wife Marissa of Lyons; three daughters, Daphne Morris of Statesboro, Deborah Collins and husband Jensen of Cartersville, and Melanie Griffin and Jimmy Paquin of Carrolton; seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at Waters Cemetery with Pastor Mark Sweat officiating.
Family and friends will gather at the home of Mrs. Morris following the service at 240 Louella St., Lyons.
