Mrs. Lyvenia F. Copeland, age 91, of Lyons, died Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was born in Coffee County, as a child moved to Toombs County, and she lived in Lyons most of her life. She worked at Oxford Industries and Hazlehurst Manufacturing in Lyons for many years, and she and her late husband owned and operated Ponderosa Store in the 1980s. She was a former member of Lyons Holiness Church and a current member of Cornerstone Church near Lyons. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Lee Copeland; two children, Melba Copeland Trull and an infant son, Harold Copeland; granddaughter, Ashley Copeland; parents, George Nickolas Franklin and Maggie Kersey Franklin; two sisters, Magdalene Franklin Flowers and Odell Franklin Copeland; and two brothers, Clifford Franklin and George Franklin.
Her family includes five children, Lois Copeland Coe, George Copeland and wife Maureen, Larry Copeland and wife Evonne, Wendell Copeland and wife Robin, and Jeanette Edwards and husband James; first cousin who was like a son and caregiver, James Copeland, all of Lyons; twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Monday morning, March 17th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mt. Zion Cemetery.
