Mr. Lynwood F. Calhoun, age 73, of Lyons died Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived near Lyons most of his life. He worked at Piggly Wiggly Southern for many years and retired from Tumi Luggage. He attended Lyons Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed reparing lawn mowers, playing softball, bowling, and square dancing. He is preceded in death by parents, Charles Emerson Calhoun and Ruby Della King; and two sisters, Lawanna Calhoun and Elaine Calhoun.
His family includes his wife, Sherry Meeks Calhoun of Lyons; one daughter, Lawanna Calhoun Ennis and husband Bobby of Winchester, Virginia; two grandchildren, Siarria Calhoun of Glennville and Joshua Haynes of Uvalda; two great-grandchildren, Kavari Cooper and Kaspen Cooper; seven siblings, Lanell Calhoun Oliver of Americus, Eloise Calhoun Powell, Velma Calhoun Woods, both of Lyons, Clara Calhoun Cox and husband Bobby of Alamo, Wayne Calhoun and wife Darty, Barbara Calhoun Perkins, and Carolyn Calhoun, all of Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, September 22nd, 2024 at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
