Ms. Lydia Ray, age 79, of Lyons, died Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and lived in Toombs County her whole life. She was a homemaker and a loving caregiver to her family. She was a member of Lyons Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years. She enjoyed planting, gardening and taking care of her pets. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ray Fleming; parents, James Lorenzo Bass and Dorothy Hall Bass; brother, Roland Bass and his wife Cyndee.
Her family includes her son, Charles Coursey (Camy); one sister, Sarahlyn Williams (Steve); six grandchildren, Amy (Jeffery), Jamey (Jamie), Michael (Abbie), Cameron, Charlize and Clayton; seven great-grandchildren; niece and caregiver, Olivia Durrence; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, August 6th, 2026 at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Poppell officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until just prior to the funeral service.
