Linda Smiley Obituary

Mrs. Linda Brannen Smiley, age 75, of Lyons, died Sunday, January 5, 2025, at her home, after a brief illness.  She was a native of Tattnall County and grew up in Glennville.  She was a 1968 graduate of Glennville High School, and she lived in Lyons since 1987.  She was a homemaker, and a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.  She enjoyed fishing, working in her yard, flowers, trips to Florida, and reading her Bible.  When you met her, you would always get a sweet Godly hug from her.  She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, Jimmy “The Bread Man” Smiley; grandson, Micah Smiley; parents, Arnie Edward Brannen and Letha Bell McMillan Brannen; two brothers, James Wallace Brannen and George William Brannen; and two sisters, Barbara Ann Brannen Barrow, and infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Brannen.

Her family includes three children, Jamie Smiley and wife April of Reidsville, Cheryl Smiley Beasley and husband Kenneth of Lyons, and Gina Smiley Williamson and husband Michael of Sparta; five grandchildren, Saralan Beasley of Buford, Cole Williamson and Julianna of Starkville, Mississippi, Cody Williamson and Caleigh Avery of Lyons, Ansley Smiley Folsom of Glennville, and Bri Hodges of Reidsville; four great-grandchildren, Braylee, Noah, Luke, and Kaisleigh; one brother, Edward Brannen and wife Kathy of Glennville; two sisters, Eleise Brannen Godwin of Callahan, Florida, and Joy Brannen Ellis and Jimmy of Glennville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, January 8th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Russell and her brother, Pastor Edward Brannen officiating.  Burial will follow at 2:00 at Glennville City Cemetery.
