Lewis "Snuffy" Vaughn

Mr. Lewis J. “Snuffy” Vaughn, age 66, of Milan, died Friday, August 1, 2025, at Oxley Park Health & Rehab in Lyons following an extended illness.  He was a native of Telfair County, grew up in Milan, and he lived in many places in the southeast. He was a welder most of his life and was also a logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and living off the land. In the last few years of his life, he found the peace of God, and he was loved and cared for deeply by the nurses and staff of Oxley Park. He is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Ann Chesser Vaughn; son, Cecil Vaughn; father, Junior Vaughn; mother, Estelle Sheffield Yawn; brother, George Vaughn; and sister, Nancy Lanier.

He is survived by one two children, Tabitha Balderas of Cadwell and Joe Vaughn of Florida; two sisters, Elizabeth Sheffield Evans of Macon and Lee Jennings of Uvalda; two brothers, Wayne Vaughn and wife Reba of Douglas and James O’Neal and wife Gloria of Ailey; sister-in-law, Sissy Vaughn of Metter; and his brother and sister in Christ, Darrell Barlow and wife Wanda of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held later.
