Mrs. Letha Jones, age 93, of Lyons, died Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Oxley Park Health & Rehab in Lyons following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Tattnall County and was a 1951 graduate of Collins High School. She met her husband and they moved to Lyons where she has lived since 1951. She was a shipping clerk for Oxford Industries in Lyons for twenty years and was a tax preparer for more than forty years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons. She enjoyed reading, reading her Bible, puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, traveling, The Grand Ole Opry, and country music.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Hugh Jones; son, James Elvon Jones; parents, Kelly Elisha Barrow and Daisy Mae Alexander Barrow; and a sister, Carolyn Anderson.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one son, Ivan Jones of Lyons; five grandchildren, Michelle Englett and husband Maurice, Shandra Rowland and husband Danny, Barbara Rowland and husband Chris, all of the Blue Ridge Community, Amanda Lynn Roach of Douglas, and Brittany Peavy of Lyons; eight great-grandchildren; ten great-great- grandchildren ; and two nephews.
A graveside funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 5th 2026, at 3:00 at Hardens Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Phillip Edge officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 2:30 until just prior to the service.
