Mr. Leon Wayne Davis, age 85, of the Long Pond Community, died Monday, February 8, 2021, at his home after a sudden illness. He was a native of Montgomery County and lived there most of his life. He was owner/operator of Leon Davis Construction, farmer, a superintendent pipefitter/ welder. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Lott’s Creek Church of God, and he enjoyed growing his garden and fishing. He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years, Marie Cartright Davis and Cleopra Griffin Davis; two sons, LeWayne “Peebo” Davis and Billy Cartwright; parents, Marvin Davis and Zenobia Dixon Davis; one brother, James Hiram “Jimmy” Davis; and sister, Loritta Davis West.
Survivors include two children, Joyce Davis Carver of Long Pond, and Irving Davis and wife Kimberly of McMinnville, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Marie “Cricket” Conner of Soperton; one step-son, Bobby Cartwright of Crescent City, Florida; seven grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Miller and husband David of Vidalia, Wayne Randall Davis and wife Reso of Hahira, Linda Carver Bowman and husband Brian, Nicole Davis Corbett and husband Ray, all of Vidalia, Jenna Davis of Lumber City, Aleah Davis of McMinnville, and Shannon Coonce and wife Rebeka; four step-grandchildren, Joe Cartwright and wife Sondy of Glenwood, Joe Conner and wife Melissa of Mt. Vernon, Laci McCord and husband Mark of Vidalia, and Jason Cartwright and wife Christy of Lovejoy; eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, eleven step great-grandchildren, six step great-great-children, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced later.
