Ms. Lavon “Von” Palmer, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Community Hospice after a brief illness. She was born in Atlanta, and lived in Waycross and Jacksonville, Florida, but most of her life she lived in the Kibbee Community and Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnard Palmer; her parents, Jesse James Stone and Blanche Idell Harrelson Stone; five siblings, Bill, Buddy, Monroe, Jackie and Bobbie Jean.
She loved genealogy and co-authored books, among those being the invaluable cemetery books she co-authored with Mose Coleman. She also enjoyed the History Channel and crocheting. She retired from Coleman Sales after many years. She attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, was active in the “Bag Ladies Ministry” and was a member of the Women of the Moose #1511.
She is survived by three children, Eddie Lee Palmer and wife Esther of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Sherry Palmer Ott and husband Randy of Vidalia, and William Burnard Palmer, Jr. and wife Lisa of Kibbee; grandchildren, Courtney, Kristin, Lindsey, Stacey, John, Amanda, Tonya, Nicole and Matt; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Leslie Sager.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery with Reverend Karl Hay officiating.
The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
