Mrs. Laura Faye Hall Memory, age 80, of Tarrytown, died Friday, July 11, 2025, at Treutlen County Health & Rehabilitation following an extended illness. She was born October 5, 1944, in Emanuel County, growing up in Oak Park, and lived in the Kibbee Community for the past twenty-three years. She loved the Lord and was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Kibbee. Most of her life was spent as a wife, mother, and homemaker. Laura was a strong and determined woman. She was the glue that held her family together and was always quick to advocate for them.
She was lovingly called “Mammy” by her biological and adopted family. She was an excellent cook and loved to eat, especially the sweets she was not supposed to have. She was loud, opinionated, funny, and a joy to be around.
She loved to sing and entertained at church and in nursing homes with her husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. She loved all jewelry, junk and real, and enjoyed shopping and pretty clothes. She was also a champion napper.
She is preceded in death by six children, Charlie Smith, Daryl Smith, Carol Kinard, Cheryl Horne, Bobby Horne, and Joe Memory; parents Lewis Hall and Thelma Hudson Hall; brothers Morris Hall, Marvin Hall and wife Betty, and Jimmy Hall; and brother-in-law, James Claxton.
She is survived by her husband, J.H. Memory, Jr. of Tarrytown; daughters, Kay Memory, Pam Memory, and Heather Williams and husband Curt all of Kibbee; thirteen grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Blake Williams, Brian Williams and wife Mila, Brett Bomkamp and wife Emily, Bethany Doyle and spouse Jamie, Emily Horne, Thomas Williamson, Joey Memory, Jared Pickle, Justin Spivey and wife Kaitlyn, Kayce Townsend and husband Steve, Hilton Williams, and Tatum Williams; six great-grandchildren, Brila, Ilan, and Miona Williams, Chloe and Hayden Pickle, and Skylar Memory; two sisters, Debra Turbyfill and husband Stacey and Carolyn Cain; one brother Ricky Hall and wife Irene; one sister-in-law, Kay Claxton; and numerous nieces and nephews, and others unofficially adopted into her family.
The funeral service will be Monday, July 14th, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Gaynor Ridgdill and her grandson, Brian Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cornerstone Baptist Church Cemetery in Kibbee.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
