Kimberly Gale Oglesby, age 57, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at home in Alston after battling a brief illness. She was surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones during her time of passing. Kim was a native of Montgomery County, raised in Alston and was a 1985 graduate of Montgomery County High School. Then some years later went on to attend college at STC and graduated in 2003. She worked as a bookkeeper at Bi-Lo for many years, at Ferrel Gas in Vidalia, and more recently, she owned and operated Kim’s Country Store in Alston for ten years. She was a member of Alston Baptist Church. During her down time, Kim was actively involved with American Red Cross where she helped many people in need in the community. She had a servant’s heart to help anyone in need. She was a first responder, member, and secretary for Alston Volunteer Fire Department in which she helped with keeping the firefighters “inline”. Kim is preceded in death by her mother Lora Gale Barnes Oglesby; maternal grandparents Troy Barnes and Ellie Browning Barnes; and paternal grandparents Roy & Grace Cowart Oglesby.
She is survived by her father John Henry Oglesby; one brother Kevin Oglesby and wife Kimberly; two nieces Samantha Oglesby and Ellie Oglesby; one great-nephew, Bretley James Beasley; all of Alston; her "sister" Connie Clifton and husband Henry of Lyons and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 11:00 at Sharpe Cemetery near Alston with Pastor Owen Waters officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations to the Alston Volunteer Fire Department, 911 West Broad St. (Alston), Ailey, GA 30412.
After the service, friends and family are invited to attend Alston Baptist Church for food, fellowship; continuing to celebrate Kim’s life.
