Kelvin Rauton

Mr. Kelvin Rauton, age 60, of the South Thompson Community, died Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and was a 1983 graduate of Lyons Senior High School. He was in the grocery business all of his life, working at Bi-Lo in Vidalia, moving to Florida in 1988 and worked with Hitchcock Supermarkets there. He lived in Palatka, Florida for many years and was store manager for several Hitchcock locations. Later, he was Pricing Director, returning to Toombs County in 2017, continuing  with the company until his medical retirement in 2024. Kelvin was a former active member of Dunns Creek Baptist Church near Palatka and is a member of South Thompson Baptist Church.  He enjoyed camping and target shooting.  He is preceded in death by an infant sister, Melody Rauton.

He is survived by his parents, A.B. Rauton and Betty Copeland Rauton; one sister, Belinda Rauton; one aunt, Barbara Rauton Kilgore and husband Arthur, all of South Thompson; one uncle, Daniel Rauton of Metter; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, May 5th, 2026, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor BL Horne officiating. Interment will follow at South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service.
