Kelly Parker Obituary

Ms. Kelly Michele Parker, age 45, of Lyons, passed away Sunday March 23, 2025 at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, GA from complications of ALS after battling the disease for many years.  She was born in DeKalb County, GA on July 23, 1979, and moved to Lyons in September 1989.  She graduated from Vidalia High School in 1998 and was a proud “Vidalia Indian”.  She received her Criminal Justice Degree in May 2004 from Southeastern Technical College and did her internship at Rogers State Prison under the watchful eye of Deane Joyner.  Kelly worked at Altamaha EMC while in high school and Southeastern Technical College.  She also worked several years at Cash Advance while in school.  An automobile accident in October 2003 left her disabled and in March 2007 she was diagnosed with ALS.  She enjoyed country music, especially Clay Walker.  She was able to meet him at Fan Fair in Nashville on her 18th birthday.  This was truly a highlight of her life.  She also enjoyed watching shows on TV such as Special Victims Unit, Criminal Minds, and wrestling.

Kelly is preceded in death by her father, Joseph M. Parker Jr.; her maternal grandparents Dona T. Horne and James Olan Priester; paternal grandparents, Joseph M. Parker and Kate Parker; and also two very special uncles, Robert P. Brownell and Arlie C. Horne.

Her family includes her mother Pamela Priester; one sister, Katie Finch; one nephew and niece, Jackson and Adeline Finch; her aunt “second mom”, Talley Brownell; and numerous cousins. Jackson and Adeline have been the light of her life since their births in 2016 and 2017. Her love for them has brought her through many sick times.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, April 4th from 2:00 until just prior to memorial service at 3:00 with Pastor Gaynor Ridgdill officiating.

Special thanks to the staff at Miller Nursing Home and Hospital that took such great care of Kelly during the last three and a half years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ASPCA at their website aspca.org as Kelly was a lover of all animals, but especially dogs and cats.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
